''Progressive All The Way''

So lets set up a scenario: An infection begins to spread from a mutated monkey virus ala 28 Days Later. The infected slip into a coma and eventually reawaken under the control of the virus, where they are able to move about at a somewhat steady pace. (Can't really run full out but they're faster than the zombies seen in recent horror movies)

You catch wind of this beginning to spread and you have enough time to mull over the options. Do you hole up in your house and hope that you have enough supplies to make it through, or do you attempt to find a more defensible position where you know not many people go to? Let's assume that you have access to weapons of various kinds ranging from garden tools all the way up to guns

Anyway what I would do next depends on what class the outbreak it is

i probably get killed by zombies.

Go grab a shotgun, go to the fire house grill and wait for some fucking zombies to show up and have some beers.
Fill the tubs with water, move all my items upstairs, destroy the stairs.

1: I would tap that with all my might. If I'm going to die, my bucket list needs to have a few more boxes checked off.
2: I'd find a 4x4 for transportation.
3: I would get a badass side-kick, like a Bengal Tiger or something.
4: I would probably find some heavy weapon that didn't require reloading. Like that bolt gun used in "No Country for Old Men"
5: Then I'd travel the world banging hot survivors and killing zombies along with my tiger.

I'd just try to lure the zombies towards people I don't like.

It seems easier to just accept becoming a zombie. Being part of the herd would be kind of cool, assuming you were still able to think to some degree. Besides, Valve has proven that being infected is more fun than being a survivor.

Or you could just be comfortable with the knowledge that a virus can't eliminate higher level cortical functions, selectively kill peripheral motor neurons but maintain neuromuscular junction innervation, rearrange brain circuitry to magically encourage cannibalistic behaviour, and produce key hormones in the endocrine system constitutively to maintain hunger for human flesh.

Depending on how bad it is and the source, I'd head to my private beach house on an island in Greece, where there's a few guns. The island's permanent population is under 2,500, and is maybe around 12,000 or so during peak tourism season. Arable land, 50 feet from the water (fish), a boat, guns, potable water, and far from the island's one village.

Bad idea.
