I'm a strange forum poster as i infrequently start my own threads (i think my last one was months ago) but i post my thoughts on others quite a bit.

Anyway

My question to everybody is:

Have you recently come across a song/album that you hadn't heard in ages and have been playing non-stop since.

OR

Have you rediscovered a CD that you bought ages ago, that you previously were disappointed with but now love?!

My all time favourite rediscovered album is William Orbit - Pieces in Modern Style, which basically is the inspiration for my ambient music production.

Currently the most recent rediscovery i had was Laurent Garnier - A Retrospective

I don't think if fully understood/appreciated it when i bought it and i left it on my shelf for ages. Then after having a couple of songs come on shuffle on my mp3 i decided to dig it out and play it. And its faaaaaaantastic!

Anybody else?!

Good timing on this post fosters as I had played an oldie for me yesterday while I took a nice long drive.
Global Underground 007, Paul Oakenfold, New York.
I really enjoy the diversity of the tracks used in these sets. A very nice melodic journey Paul takes you on when listening to these CDs.

When I first got the CDs, I listened to it over and over for just about 6 months straight. 8)

The best album of the Big Beat wave. In the days, it was one of my all time favourite. 12 years later, it grew old, the Block Rockin' Beats don't rock that much after all. People don't make electronic music like that anymore... too much the sound of the 90's. But, well, you know what? it's still really incredibly good. Yet not anymore for the sound, but for the boxful of ideas, the good taste in the choice of sample collage, the smooth and brilliant dynamic of the album. "Electrobank" reveals a brilliant sense of construction. "Piku" acquired a pre-taste of Justice's world of deconstruction. "Setting Sun" still kicks really hard right in your face. It's not anymore the sound of the moment, it's the sound of a classic.

The Future Sound Of London.Lifeforms. (CD 1994) FSOL.

An epic work in ambient. Like walking through a strange alien jungle, organic and foreign yet somehow familiar and comforting.
